Kes jenayah di Malaysia sekarang ini semakin banyak dan ganas. Bolehkah umat Islam pelihara anjing atas alasan untuk memelihara keselamatan pemiliknya? Jika boleh, apakah batasannya? Syabu telah difatwakan haram. Sekarang kita bicara isu pelihara anjing pula. Sebuah rumah perlindungan anak yatim yang sering dipecah masuk oleh pencuri di Klang telah memelihara anjing kerana tidak mampu untuk mengupah pengawal keselamatan.
Daripada Abdullah bin Umar dia berkata: "Aku mendengar Nabi SAW bersabda: Sesiapa memelihara anjing selain anjing untuk berburu atau anjing menjaga binatang ternak, maka pahalanya akan berkurang dua qirath setiap harinya." (Riwayat Bukhari no. 5059 dan Muslim, no: 2940).
Orphanage relies on dog instead of guards for security

AN orphanage in Klang, which has been robbed three times within two months, has to depend on a dog to guard its safety as it cannot afford to hire security guards. The House of Love, which was set up less than a year ago, is the shelter for 12 children and a single mother.
